Bomb alerts are increasing in the European sky. On Thursday, a Dublin-Rome flight was diverted to a French military base, escorted by two fighter aircraft. How do the authorities deal with these threats? Could these incidents be part of a strategy of hybrid attacks against Europe? Gérard Feldzer, a former airline pilot and aviation consultant, decrypts the procedures and issues involved in these alerts.
The prosecutor of the Republic, Rémi Coutin, announced that he had visited Air and Space Army Air Force Base 105 in Evreux, where the A320 finally landed on Thursday 5 November in the morning. The aircraft was connecting Dublin to Rome with 157 people on board due to a bomb alert. The Evreux Public Prosecutor's Office announced the opening of an investigation into the pilot who would initially "refused" to land on the Evreux military base.
