Russia launches massive strike on Kyiv

As Ukraine prepares for another round of talks with Russia and the United States next week, Moscow has launched a massive overnight strike. At least five people were injured in Kyiv, where Russian missiles damaged residential and commercial buildings, forced the closure of a bridge over the Dnipro River and caused fresh power and water outages. Oleshky residents return to Ukraine

Residents evacuated from Russian-occupied Oleshky have reached Ukrainian-held territory following a rare local truce. They described years of isolation, food shortages and regular shelling, with some saying they were forced to eat grass and dogs to survive. Seized by Russian forces in the early days of the 2022 invasion, the city remains cut off by the Dnipro River on one side and Russian troops on the other.
